Lay out a repeat on paper
Draw a line of circles to represent the pieces in a bracelet. Choose a short sequence and repeat it until you can see how the colors interact.
Mark any focal piece and check whether the sequence still works on either side. Count the materials needed before starting.
Keep the drawing with the finished project notes. It is easier to adjust a repeat from a recorded pattern than from memory.
